And I’m all like, ‘WHO THE FUCK NEEDS TO GET FROM 0-60 IN 3.2 SECONDS IN A BLOODY CROSSOVER????’

I do

but Wendy needs to get johnny to soccer practice quickly, other wise she will miss her 2pm for her nails!

Who needs to get from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds in anything? B y this definition, who needs any sort of performance in anything that is not a traditional sport car?
If you want fast, you want everything fast. Even if you have family/friends to take along.

Doesn’t help the fact that it looks like a fucking hippo.

Well nobody would buy this if didn’t do 0-60 in 3.2

While Jalopnik FP deep throats Elon Musk and everything Tesla, I’m glad I’m not the only uninterested in them.

Yeah! I think cars were plenty fast in the 90’s. Let’s go back to that and then just stay there forever. Progress be damned!

Because why the hell not?

He didn't fuck range tho....it's triple what the closest competitor can do. 250 miles is the sweet spot for consumers who can perceive how easy it would be to replace a 300 mile range car with an EV

everybody does - it’s a usable wagon, uses no gas, has Falcon doors and can do 3.2 second 0-60 sprints all day. And honestly, it will probably sell better than the sedan. I want to know if you leave the doors all the way extended will it take off? :)
![]() 10/03/2015 at 18:42 |

Right, I forgot that CUVs aren’t allowed to go fast.

I would gladly buy one if I could.
But I still think the doors are pretentious as fuck.

is this progress? i think once electric crossovers are king of the 0-60 hill the hill is officially not worth climbing. then again i find raw speed pointless in road cars.

The incremental increase in performance is by definition progress. I mean, what’s the problem? Are you going to mope around and drive an old Austin Healey and bitch about the newfangled techno-whatsits just because you don’t like the shape and power source of one of the fastest new cars?
Would you prefer if Elon went and cancelled all electric car sales and shut Tesla down just to preserve the sanctity and tradition of the old way of doing things? Just because an electric crossover is now one of the fastest cars on sale doesn’t mean that the pursuit of speed has been invalidated. It jut means you’re going to have to suck it up and roll with the changes.
Technological progress isn’t going to slow down or stop just for the sake of nostalgia.

It’s a dick measuring contest. DUUUUURRRRR MY CROSSOVER GOES FASTER THAN YOUR FERRARI!

Racing a Ferrari in a really fast crossover is pointless. Even if you win you still lose because the other guy gets to drive home in a Ferrari.
![]() 10/03/2015 at 19:34 |

no, it’s just pointless. even if it’s a gas powered pininfarina design, who cares that it runs 0-60 in 3.2? the pursuit of speed is invalid. we are way past the point where average drivers can safely drive average cars, hence why every car is mandated to have electronic control. woo, you can put your right foot down, who cares.
the safety and fuel factors are progress, but the fact that it can run 0-60 in half the time is a stupid thing to brag about.
Edit: An Austin Healey would likely be very fun to drive, so I doubt I’d be moping.

Plenty of people get a rush from putting their foot down and going 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, which you can legally do at every single on-ramp in the US, and a bunch of rural highways. As long as people continue enjoying it, companies will keep making faster cars. Remember, carmakers build cars if a certain number of people will buy them and want them, regardless of the number of people who don’t.

I get that, but where does it end? We don’t really even need cars that can do 0-60 in 10 seconds do we? In the case of electric cars, they’re just going to be fast because of the way that electric motors deliver power. And if it’s that fast, why not advertise it? It’s a business, they’re trying to make money, and every advantage that you can brag about is likely to draw in more customers.
And, yeah, tooling around in a Mk. I Sprite would probably be a blast.

But seriously...
Actually yeah. I was thinking Prius but hippo works too.

When there’s a fight happening in the car and you need to shut everyone the fuck up by pinning them to their seats.

Unless that person is DeMuro.

It’s a tie then. He drives away in a Ferrari, but he has to be Doug DeMuro, and lets be honest here; not even Doug DeMuro wants to be Doug DeMuro.
